Outreach around the World
Rachel Circle
The mission of Rachel Circle is to provide warm quilts for people in need, both close to home and around the world. Rachel Circle meets every Tuesday morning for quilting. On the first Tuesday of each month, the group also holds a Bible study.
Servant Events
Bethany sponsors separate servant events for high school youth and adults to travel to another community and serve others. We pray that those serving will discover the joy and satisfaction of living out Christ's call to servanthood. We work side by side with people in need to build homes, schools or other community projects. Our groups enjoy cross cultural experiences, make friends, strengthen relationships amongst themselves, meet new challenges, and discover the power of God working in and through them.
Guatemala - New Jerusalem Lutheran Church
New Jerusalem Lutheran Church is a Maya Indian congregation in the remote mountain village of Chajabal and a sister congregation to Bethany. The people are of the Quiché (key-CHAY) Maya Indian culture. New Jerusalem sponsors the Martin Luther School for Grades 1-9. Members of New Jerusalem and Bethany have visited each other in recent years. Bethany members provide some scholarships for the school.
ELCA World Hunger
Bethany provides annual financial support to fight hunger around the world through the ELCA World Hunger program.
