High School Youth Group: Grades 9-12

We welcome 9th-12th graders to join us our High School Youth Group! We meet most every Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. Some recent activities have included movies, caroling, delivering cookies to shut-ins, and venturing over to the Olympic National Forest to harvest Christmas trees for our families.

Each summer this group travels to another state or country to help people in need. This provides a wonderful opportunity to learn about other cultures and life styles and ourselves and to build community. The trip is open to all high school youth, and many attendees each year come from outside Bethany. In 2009, our youth worked with the Navajo people in New Mexico. In 2010 our youth served the people of St. Bernard Parish near New Orleans, who are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. We served at Holden Village doing trail maintenance in 2011 and plan to return to New Orleans to serve as part of the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering.

Pictures from New Orleans '10 are available in the Publications section of this site.
